Lynn Grieger, RD on the Atkins Diet

This diet may seem like the tastiest way to lose weight, but don't be misled by claims of effortless weight loss and unlimited amounts of food. Nothing is that simple!

You might lose weight early in the program, but you have to weigh the health consequences. The notion of cutting out fruit and vegetables goes against all instincts and has been shown time and again in scientific studies to have far-reaching health consequences.

iVillagers on the Atkins Diet

"My wife and I have been on Atkins for one year. I have lost 76 pounds and she has lost 46. Our blood work is exceptional and our blood pressure is lower than it's been in 25 years!" -- An iVillager

"I was on the Atkins diet for about six months and I lost 20 pounds. I also lost hair -- clumps of it. I had no energy to exercise, and I fell into a slump of depression. Now I've gained all the weight back, plus 10 pounds!" -- iVillager muffininabadmood
